Farage Warns Channel Crisis Worsens as Migrants Flood Europe

Nigel Farage has issued a stark warning that the Channel migrant crisis will intensify, citing a surge in asylum seekers entering Europe and new methods used by people smugglers. This comes as the number of individuals crossing the English Channel alone is set to exceed 200,000.

The Channel migrant crisis is set to become "a lot worse," according to Nigel Farage, as "vast numbers" of asylum seekers pour into Europe. The Reform UK leader warns that new, brazen tactics are being employed, including social media adverts offering up to £7,000 for drivers to transport migrants to Calais, exploiting the Schengen Zone, as reported by the Daily Express Politics.

This dire prediction comes amidst alarming new trends. Mr. Farage revealed that groups are now using ladders to scale barbed wire border fences, indicating a desperate and organised push into the continent. The Daily Express previously reported in March on how smugglers are actively recruiting individuals with 'clean' records, including students, to move equipment and even drive dinghies.

"This week, we go through 200,000 people who have crossed the English Channel alone, most of them undocumented young males, fighting age, who we know literally nothing about," Mr. Farage stated. He further warned, "They pose not just a great threat to women and girls but, I also believe, to our national security." Adam Berry, regional head of investigations for organised immigration crime, told the Daily Express that drivers are offered "easy cash" to move "go kits" — inflatable dinghies, engines, and life jackets — worth around £10,000.

This surge in activity means more young men, predominantly from Iran and Iraq, are making their way through Europe, with the United Kingdom as their primary destination. The National Crime Agency believes that crackdowns are forcing kingpins to expand their recruitment of drivers, often preying on those seeking quick money without fully understanding the deadly consequences. These drivers, Mr. Berry notes, often feel a "detachment" from the human cost, viewing themselves as merely transporting equipment, not facilitating dangerous crossings.

The grim reality is that these "go kits" often lead to tragedy, with migrants crushed or suffocating in substandard dinghies in the world's busiest shipping lane. The authorities face an uphill battle convincing people that transporting a boat, seemingly innocuous, is directly linked to these fatalities, a message they are now urgently trying to convey to potential recruits.
