Green Candidate Branded Hypocrite Over 'Gas-Guzzling' Mercedes 4x4

A Green Party candidate, Adam Kamenetzky, is under fire, branded a “hypocrite” for driving a large diesel SUV, according to the Daily Express. This is no small matter for a party that campaigns relentlessly to ban petrol and diesel cars, yet one of their own drives a 2.1-litre Mercedes M-Class.

The Green Party's platform explicitly calls for accelerating plans to ban new petrol and diesel car sales and removing such vehicles from the roads, prioritising electric transport, cycling, or public transport. Yet, Mr. Kamenetzky, standing for Wandsworth Council in London, reportedly uses this 'thirsty' vehicle daily as a family car.

The Tooting Conservative Association did not hold back, telling the Daily Mail: “No wonder the Greens have got Labour panicking in Furzedown and Tooting Broadway. It shows true dedication to be able to compete on hypocrisy.” Mr. Kamenetzky, who lives in a £1.4 million home, refused to comment on his car when approached by the Mail, sparking further questions.

This incident casts a long shadow over the Green Party's environmental credentials, making it harder for ordinary people to take their policies seriously when their own representatives appear to live by different rules. It highlights a clear disconnect between the party's public pronouncements and the personal choices of its candidates.

Despite being a key campaigner in the 'dieselgate' High Court case against manufacturers for alleged emissions cheating, Mr. Kamenetzky's continued use of the vehicle directly contradicts his party's core message, leaving voters to wonder if his commitment to environmental reform truly extends beyond the courtroom.
